Project Details
Location: Wanstead
We’re excited to celebrate the successful completion of our latest renovation project in Wanstead. Working closely with the architect (Space Group architects) and our clients, we’ve completely transformed this property with an ultra modern side and rear extension, plus multifunctionial outhouse. Both spaces are clad externally in a striking bronze, ionised mesh.
Our team tackled a range of other updates from re configuring the existing loft, replacing existing bathrooms and decorating. We also modernized the electrical and plumbing systems to ensure long-term efficiency and comfort.
Improving the overall layout for better flow and usability on the ground floor of the house was a top priority for our clients. Thankfully, the new extension has completely changed the way the family use their home. It was a collaborative effort, and we couldn’t be prouder to have brought the vision to life.
The owner says...
Summit built a wraparound ground floor extension to our 1930s end of terrace house demolishing an existing smaller extension and replacing it with a timber framed, metal clad design that wraps around the ground floor of the house. They also converted a double garage at the end of our garden into an office & leisure space and renovated three bathrooms and two bedrooms within the house, including a complete re-model of the previous owners loft extension.
We chose Summit because we were impressed with the quality & finish of some other work they have done in the area and our architect, who designed a striking and truly bespoke project, recommended them based on other challenging projects of his that Summit have completed.
We liked Summit because they were completely reliable & their people, from whichever team we had on site, were thoroughly professional, pleasant and worked very hard, 6 days a week every week, never compromising on quality or safety. Andriy (check spelling pls..) who was on site from start to finish, managed a very complex design, fixed all manner of issues that arose along the way and was a joy to work with and Julian was always on hand to offer solutions, juggle resources and discuss progress with our architect. The joinery, electrical, plumbing and decorating teams are all in house, which is a major benefit of working with Summit as emergencies or snagging issues are resolved quickly.
Given the nature of the project there were regular progress meetings with our architect and as neither he nor Summit had built something like our wraparound before, there were often issues to be resolved around the design & the practicalities of building it. Julian always took a solutions focused approach, was clear when he felt something couldn’t be achieved, would be better done in an alternative way, or would require a variation to the originally agreed budget and ultimately I think all parties are very happy that the integrity of the design has been maintained with minimal compromise, completely transforming our house and how we use it.
This was ultimately a 15 month project and there was some over-run to the original estimated timescale, both because of additional works put into scope and because of the complexity of the work, but I always had confidence that Summit would deliver, both with a high quality finish and without costs running out of control and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.
