Wanstead Tennyson Ave

Project Details

Location: Wanstead, London

For this Wanstead project, we demolished the existing out building, then built a ground floor rear extension with two large patio areas and steps down to the garden, a utility room, ground floor W.C with shower and replaced the first floor bathroom.

The clients were keen to have a sliding, barn style door on their utility room to create a nice feature, so using old floorboards that would have been discarded from another project, our talent carpenters built them their very own bespoke version.

We are extremely pleased with the final results at this project and the clients were an absolute pleasure to work with. We wish them all the best for the future in their ‘dream home’.

The owner says...

We spent quite a bit of time looking at builders for our new house extension but as fate would have it, I had previously noticed whilst on my daily walks, a house just around the corner from our property, where Summit Group were currently working. I’d never seen or heard of Summit Group before but the newly updated front of the property made such an impression on me that I made a note of the company name. That was almost a couple of years ago now.
After meeting with various different builders, we decided that we really wanted to work with a company that would manage the whole build for us. We didn’t want to have to source and manage other contractors such as plumbers, electricians or decorators separately, so when we met with Julian from Summit Group for the first time, he let us know that Summit Group had its own group of plumbers, electricians and decorators who all work together under the one umbrella. Summit Group would coordinate and manage the whole build. That to us was a huge factor in us choosing Summit Group, as the last thing we wanted, was to have a contractor finish their part and pretty much walk off site without the job being fully completed with gas, electricity and all. We really didn’t want to have to project-manage various separate contractors ourselves.
When we met Julian for the first time, he was friendly and he gave us some other very helpful ideas with regard to our new extension. After much deliberation (another very well-respected builder was coming out a bit cheaper) we decided to go with Summit Group for the build and we are extremely pleased that we did.
Very soon after accepting Summit Group’s quote they started to move their equipment onsite and it wasn’t long before they’d completely taken down the rear of the property. Throughout the build, we found the team to be very professional, friendly, hard-working and punctual and we found their work (and their work ethic) to be of an extremely high standard. Julian provided a constant presence throughout the life-cycle of the build and he was really very helpful indeed in suggesting suitable ideas when we were faced with certain challenges along the way.
Much of our build took place during the Coronavirus pandemic and it is a credit to Summit Group that they were able to finish our project during such difficult circumstances.
We are extremely pleased with the extension, the new upstairs bathroom, the heating solution, the electrics and all of the decoration that Summit Group have provided and we have, as a result, ended up with a fantastic extension that far exceeds what we could ever have dreamed of!
Thank you very much indeed to all at Summit Group. We will miss seeing the team, we will miss our weekly catch-ups with Julian and we will certainly miss his contagious laughter.
